About the BYD Seal
The Seal is BYD's answer to the Tesla Model 3 and a genuine driver's EV: rear-wheel drive as standard, a low-slung body, and the cell-to-body (CTB) construction that makes the pack part of the structure. In its fastest form it brings a second motor and over 500 hp.
It is a car people buy for enjoyment and long journeys, often parking it in cities and at airports far from home. That is exactly the use case where an owner-controlled tracking layer pays off - and where 'no manufacturer cloud' matters most.
Where to mount a tracking phone in the Seal
- Under the boot floor - a deep well behind the rear seats, the best hiding place.
- Under the front seats - low, flat and hidden.
- Centre console - within reach of USB power.
- Power - USB-C in the console or the 12 V socket.
- Signal - avoid the metal seat rails; the glass roof is transparent to GPS.
Private by design - no manufacturer cloud, no foreign servers
Modern cars, and especially most Chinese EVs, are permanently connected: the maker's own app knows where your BYD is and routes that data through its cloud, very often on the other side of the world. Our approach is the opposite. Tracking runs entirely on a phone you own, and your location history lives in your own SpySat account. We do not pass it to the car maker's servers and we do not send it to any foreign - including Chinese - data centre. You decide who can see where your car is.

No. Nothing is connected to the car's electrics - the phone runs on its own battery or a standard USB/12 V feed.
Can I follow the Seal on long motorway trips?

Does it work if the car is shipped or parked abroad for weeks?
Yes, provided the phone keeps power and a data connection; a power bank or the car's 12 V socket covers long stays.
