Omoda GPS tracking - free, independent and private
Omoda is the export brand from China's Chery group, and its cars - the Omoda 5 and more - are permanently connected to the manufacturer's own cloud. If you would rather decide for yourself who sees where your car is, our free phone-based tracking gives you an independent layer that the maker never touches.
Private by design - no manufacturer cloud, no foreign servers
Modern cars, and especially most Chinese EVs, are permanently connected: the maker's own app knows
where your Omoda is and routes that data through its cloud, very often on the other side of the world.
Our approach is the opposite. Tracking runs entirely on a phone you own, and your
location history lives in your own SpySat account. We do not pass it to the car
maker's servers and we do not send it to any foreign - including Chinese - data centre. You decide
who can see where your car is.
Independent - works without the manufacturer's app, SIM or subscription.
Owner-controlled - the location history belongs to your account, not to a vendor.
No third-country routing - nothing is relayed through foreign (incl. Chinese) clouds.
Switchable - delete an endpoint and the data stream stops instantly.
The Omoda story - a full history
Omoda is the sleek, fashion-led half of the Chinese giant Chery Group's export push. Chery was founded on 18 March 1997 in Wuhu, Anhui province, and has been China's largest exporter of passenger cars since 2001. The story of Omoda began on a stand at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2021, where Chery showed a pre-production Omoda 5 to introduce a new design language called "Art in Motion". The car went on sale in China in July 2022 as the Chery Omoda 5, and on 11 October 2022 Chery spun Omoda out as a standalone, export-only brand, debuting first in Russia with the Omoda C5.
The name was chosen from more than 10,000 suggestions from 30 countries: "O" stands for oxygen, life and fresh energy, while "MODA" nods to modern and to trends and style. Omoda runs alongside its sister marque Jaecoo as "Omoda & Jaecoo" (O&J): Omoda takes the futuristic, sporty coupe-crossover position for younger buyers, Jaecoo the boxier "urban off-road" role. Both share platforms and the Super Hybrid powertrain but target very different customers.

Positioning
Omoda sells on a "smart luxury" idea: 15-25% cheaper than established Western and Japanese rivals while carrying equipment they charge extra for (twin panoramic screens, level-2 driver aids, 360-degree cameras, keyless entry, ventilated seats and a 50W cooled wireless charger). It backs this with a seven-year, 150,000 km warranty in Europe, seven years with no mileage cap in Australia, and eight years or 160,000 km on the traction battery. Its buyers are Millennials and Gen Z, and its main rivals are the Nissan Qashqai, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Toyota C-HR, Cupra Formentor, MG HS and BYD Atto 3.
