Jaecoo GPS tracking

Jaecoo GPS tracking - free, independent and private

Jaecoo is the export brand from China's Chery group, and its cars - the Jaecoo 7 and more - are permanently connected to the manufacturer's own cloud. If you would rather decide for yourself who sees where your car is, our free phone-based tracking gives you an independent layer that the maker never touches.

Private by design - no manufacturer cloud, no foreign servers

Modern cars, and especially most Chinese EVs, are permanently connected: the maker's own app knows where your Jaecoo is and routes that data through its cloud, very often on the other side of the world. Our approach is the opposite. Tracking runs entirely on a phone you own, and your location history lives in your own SpySat account. We do not pass it to the car maker's servers and we do not send it to any foreign - including Chinese - data centre. You decide who can see where your car is.

  • Independent - works without the manufacturer's app, SIM or subscription.
  • Owner-controlled - the location history belongs to your account, not to a vendor.
  • No third-country routing - nothing is relayed through foreign (incl. Chinese) clouds.
  • Switchable - delete an endpoint and the data stream stops instantly.

The Jaecoo story - a full history

Jaecoo is one of two export-only marques created by the Chinese state-owned group Chery Automobile, which was founded on 18 March 1997 in Wuhu, Anhui province, and has been China's leading passenger-car exporter for more than two decades. The name Jaecoo is a made-up blend of the German word Jager (hunter) and the English word cool, meant to signal a rugged yet modern character. The brand was formally announced in April 2023 in Wuhu and made its world debut the same month at the Auto Shanghai 2023 show.

Jaecoo is sold in tandem with its sister brand Omoda under the combined "Omoda & Jaecoo" structure. Omoda targets younger urban buyers with futuristic coupe-crossovers, while Jaecoo takes the more mature "urban off-road" position with a classic, boxy silhouette. Because Chery's older image abroad was tied to budget 2000s cars, Jaecoo was deliberately kept off the Chinese home market and given a new, western-sounding name to compete in the "accessible premium" segment.

Positioning

Jaecoo is built on a "more for less" promise: generous standard equipment (surround cameras, large screens on a Snapdragon 8155 chip, heated and ventilated seats, Sony audio, panoramic roof and level-2 driver aids) and an unusually long warranty - seven years or 150,000 km in Europe, seven years with no mileage cap in Australia, and eight years or 160,000 km on the traction battery. Its main rivals are the Toyota RAV4, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Nissan Qashqai and Volkswagen Tiguan, with the smaller 5 fighting the Kia Niro, Hyundai Kona, Skoda Karoq and Dacia Duster.
