Frequently Asked Questions:

What's the most unique or unusual route a passenger has requested from you while driving around Townsville, and how did you manage to get them there?

One of the most unusual requests I had while driving around Townsville was from a group of tourists who wanted to see a "real Australian outback experience" before they left. They asked if I could take them to the middle of nowhere, where they could see kangaroos hopping around and maybe even spot some wild dingoes. I explained that while we do have kangaroos and dingoes in the Townsville area, they are typically found in more rural locations, which would be quite a drive from the city center. However, I suggested a visit to the Billabong Sanctuary instead, as it offers a chance to get up close and personal with these animals in a safe and controlled environment. They were delighted with this suggestion and we made our way to the sanctuary. We spent the day exploring the park and even got to feed kangaroos and hold a baby crocodile! The tourists left feeling satisfied that they had experienced an authentic Australian outback adventure without having to venture too far from Townsville.

Do you know which roads in Townsville are currently under construction or scheduled for renovation?

Yes, I am aware of the road construction projects happening in Townsville. Currently, there is a major upgrade underway for the Bruce Highway between Vaucluse and Mt Low. This project includes widening the highway from two to four lanes, installing new stormwater drains, and upgrading pedestrian facilities along the route. Additionally, there are plans for repairs and resurfacing on Flinders Street East between Denham Street and Sturt Street in the city center. These projects aim to improve traffic flow, safety, and overall infrastructure in Townsville. As for my own preferences, I drive a Subaru Impreza and enjoy its reliable performance and comfortable ride.
