Frequently Asked Questions:

What's the most unusual transportation request you've received while driving in Belfast, and how did you manage it?

One of the most unusual transportation requests I received while driving in Belfast was from a group of students who wanted me to transport their pet hedgehog to a science fair. At first, I was surprised as I had never heard of someone transporting a live hedgehog before. However, I soon realized that it was a unique opportunity and decided to help them out. I researched online about how to safely transport a hedgehog and found that they needed to be kept in a secure container with plenty of ventilation. I also made sure the temperature inside the vehicle was appropriate for the hedgehog's comfort. The students provided me with a small plastic container that had sufficient air holes and a heat pack to keep their pet warm during the journey. The whole experience was an adventure, and I was happy to have helped the students transport their precious cargo to the science fair.

How did the Belfast Marathon get its iconic yellow and black stripes?

The Belfast City Marathon, now known as the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon, received its distinctive yellow and black stripes in 1983 when it adopted these colours for the first time. The introduction of the new marathon logo was part of a major rebranding exercise, carried out by then marketing agency, McCann Erickson, who won the contract to design the image. The choice of bold and vibrant yellow and black stripes represented the city’s industrial and creative heritage in an innovative way that caught the eye and made the marathon stand out from others worldwide. Over time these colours became synonymous with the Belfast Marathon, and they continue to feature prominently in the event's branding, promotions and merchandise today.
